Cairns, Queensland [6 November 2023] – Sunlover Reef Cruises, a prominent name in the Great Barrier
Reef’s outer reef experiences and tourism, proudly announce the achievement of Christopher Williams,
a valued member of their crew, who has completed the rigorous Master Reef Guide training
on Lady Elliot Island from October 30th to November 3rd, 2023, as part of the 7th cohort of Master Reef
Guides.

Already serving as a Marine Biologist with Sunlover Reef Cruises, Williams has demonstrated his
commitment to enhancing the guest experience by upskilling to become a certified Master Reef Guide.
This accomplishment highlights Sunlover’s continuous dedication to providing guests with the highest
level of expertise and knowledge during their Great Barrier Reef experiences.

Master Reef Guides are recognized as world-leading reef guides and interpreters, passionately sharing
the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. With a comprehensive understanding of the
reef’s scientific and management aspects, Master Reef Guides play a crucial role in educating and
engaging visitors, empowering them to contribute to the preservation of this natural wonder.

Hailing from England, Williams initially studied marine conservation at Cornwell College in Newquay
from 2012 to 2014. Continuing his academic journey at the University of Plymouth, obtaining a Bachelor
of Science with honours in Coastal Ecology & Marine Biology from 2014 to 2016.

Reflecting on his accomplishment, Williams shared, “Being a Marine Biologist with Sunlover Reef Cruises
has been incredibly rewarding, and upskilling to become a Master Reef Guide will allow me to deepen my
connection with the Great Barrier Reef and share its wonders more comprehensively.”

Williams brings a wealth of experience to Sunlover Reef Cruises, having previously worked with Blue
Planet Marine during his tenure with the company. His expertise, coupled with the newly acquired
Master Reef Guide certification, is set to elevate the educational program, Marine Biologist for a Day,
and additional immersive aspects of the Sunlover Reef Cruises experience.
