SSI Scuba Skills Update + Moore ReefReturn to Diving
Certified, but it’s been a while? A couple of hours in the sheltered training area to get it all back — then straight out on the reef.
You did your course somewhere warm in 2019 and haven’t been in since. Or you’ve got 50 dives but nothing in the last 3 years. Either way you’re standing on the pontoon feeling less certain than you’d like.
A couple of hours with an instructor in flat, sheltered water, running back through the skills until it all comes back. Which it will, faster than you think.
The things that go first
Kitting up
Assembly and pre-dive checks, back to being second nature.
Mask and regulator
Clearing your mask, recovering your regulator, without the adrenaline.
Buoyancy
Usually the one that’s gone. Also the one that protects the coral.
Air sharing
Sharing air with a buddy, calmly and correctly.
Whatever’s worrying you
Tell your instructor. They’ve heard it before.
Then go diving
Refresher in the morning, Moore Reef in the afternoon.
If you haven’t dived in twelve months, do this
