Sunlover News
International dive news site Divernet has featured our Moore Reef dive team and our new SSI dive school on the Great Barrier Reef.
The short version
- Divernet has published a feature on Sunlover Dive, our SSI Training Centre at Moore Reef.
- We train and certify divers from our pontoon, 47 km off Cairns on the outer Great Barrier Reef.
- Every training dive happens on the reef, with no pool and no liveaboard.
- Groups are small, with no more than 4 students per instructor, and you are back in Cairns every night.

What Divernet wrote
Divernet’s feature, Sunlover’s Moore Reef dive team now certifies SSI divers on the Great Barrier Reef, looks at how our dive school works. Students learn their skills in a sheltered, shallow area beneath the pontoon, then move out to the coral for their open water dives. Theory is done at home beforehand on the free SSI app, so course days are spent in the water.
The article also covers our continuing education courses and the options for non-divers travelling with students, who can spend the day at the underwater observatory, on the semi-submersible or on the glass bottom boat.
“We’ve been at Moore Reef since 1991, and our dive team know this reef intimately.”
Michelle Barry, Marketing & Digital Growth Manager, Sunlover Reef Cruises
